Taipei, Dec. 21 (CNA) Taiwan's Navy said it is still searching for three submariners swept off deck by a sudden large wave during a training mission Thursday.
In a statement, the Navy said it had dispatched S70-C anti-submarine helicopters and multiple vessels to search the three missing members of the Hai Hu's crew -- non-commissioned officers surnamed Lin (林), Yen (顏) and Chang (張).
Three others washed into the water -- a lieutenant commander surnamed Chen (陳), a lieutenant surnamed Tsung (叢) and a non-commissioned officer surnamed Lee (李) -- had been rescued and were conscious, the Navy added.
According to the Navy, the crew members were trying to retrieve a piece of equipment that had fallen off the submarine.
The Navy added that all six had been wearing life vests when they went into the water.
