Taipei, April 30 (CNA) Thunder Tiger Corporation, a Taiwanese unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturer, said Sunday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on April 28 with American radar system developer Imsar Llc on the development of drones.
Thunder Tiger said in a statement that the MOU will enable it to use Imsar's synthetic aperture radar in its drones, including the T400 model, for both military and commercial applications.
The two companies will also conduct field tests and display various drones to tap into the global market, it said.
The cooperation is a significant step for the development of the T400, which is supported by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs in a program to facilitate development of the country's national defense industry, the company said.
Imsar, which makes high performance radar, is a strong partner as it has been working with the U.S. military to deploy new capabilities, according to Thunder Tiger.
Thunder Tiger also said it plans to showcase the T400 and other drones it has developed at the Taipei Aerospace Defense Technology Exhibition in September, to promote Taiwanese made UAVs on the world stage.
