Taipei, March 15 (CNA) A bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday on a two-day visit that will include meetings with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and other senior government officials, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said.

The delegation comprises Republican representatives Ken Calvert of California, Tom Cole of Oklahoma, Dave Joyce of Ohio, Mike Garcia of California, and Steve Womack of Arkansas and Democrat Ed Case of Hawaii, MOFA said in a press release.

Upon their arrival at Taipei's Songshan Airport, the six members of Congress were welcomed by Douglas Hsu (徐佑典), head of MOFA's North American Affairs Department, according to the statement.

During their visit, the members of Congress will meet with President Tsai, National Security Council Secretary-General Wellington Koo (顧立雄), and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) to discuss strengthening bilateral security cooperation and economic and trade ties, MOFA said.

According to the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the five congressmen are in Taiwan as part of a larger visit to the Indo-Pacific region.
