Taipei, Oct. 25 (CNA) Four people were injured after an M72 LAW portable anti-tank weapon was fired accidentally during a live-fire inspection in Hsinchu County Tuesday.

According to the Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command, staff at the Army North Test Center in Hukou rushed the four injured military personnel to hospital and medical units following the incident.

The command said that two of the soldiers received treatment at a hospital in Zhubei for ear and arm injuries, while two were treated for minor abrasions by the training center's medical team.

The command added that it had stopped live-fire testing and inspections, and suspended the use of the ammunition batch involved in the incident.

The command said it was cooperating with a special team to investigate the cause of the accident, adding that it would continue to strengthen ammunition identification and risk prevention education.

The M72 LAW is a portable light one-shot 66 millimeter unguided anti-tank weapon.
