Taipei, Jan. 6 (CNA) The Army launched a live-fire exercise late Tuesday at a southern military drill ground to test the armed forces combat readiness at night.
The Taoyuan-based 269th Mechanized Infantry Brigade carried out the drill held at Joint Operations Training Base Command in southern Pingtung County, during which armored vehicles fired rounds of live ammunition in a simulated enemy invasion, according to a report by the Military News Agency (MNA).
According to the brigade, the drill was aimed at better familiarizing troops with nighttime command and coordination, the MNA said.
The drill was part of a five-day, four-night drill to test the results of two months of training by the brigade at the Pingtung drill ground, which has served as a training and drill facility for Taiwan's armed forces since 1966.
