Taipei, Dec. 22 (CNA) Two Chinese military Y-8 aircraft entered Taiwan's southwest air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on Tuesday, marking the 14th time such maneuvers have occurred in December, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said that day.

The ministry said the planes involved were one Y-8 anti-submarine plane and one Y-8 early warning aircraft.

In response to the incursion, Taiwan's Air Force scrambled planes to monitor the Chinese aircraft, issued radio warnings and mobilized air defense assets until the Chinese aircraft left the ADIZ, the MND added.

The latest intrusion brings the number of times Chinese military planes have entered the ADIZ in December to 14, following Dec. 1-2, Dec. 4-7, Dec. 9-10, Dec. 12, Dec. 15-16 and Dec. 20-21, according to the MND.

On Sept. 17, the ministry established a section on its official website detailing the movements of Chinese military planes near Taiwan.
