Taipei, Nov. 12 (CNA) A Chinese Y-8 anti-submarine warfare plane flew into Taiwan's southwest air defense identification zone (ADIZ) Thursday morning -- the ninth such intrusion this month and the 39th since mid-September, according to the Ministry of National Defense (MND).
In response to the incident, which has become an almost daily occurrence in recent months amid escalating cross-Taiwan strait tensions, Taiwan's Air Force scrambled jets to chase away the Chinese aircraft, issued radio warnings and mobilized air defense systems to monitor its movements, the MND said in a statement.
On Sept. 17, the ministry established a section on its official website that details the movements of Chinese military planes near Taiwan.
