Taipei, Oct. 26 (CNA) A five-day, four-night "combat readiness week" kicked off late Monday at military bases across the country to test the Armed Forces' combat preparedness, a military source said Monday.

As part of the drill, an AH-64E Apache helicopter and a UH-60M Black Hawk chopper, both attached to the Taoyuan-based 601st Brigade of the Army Aviation and Special Forces Command, are scheduled to land at a site near Hsinchu Taiwan High Speed Rail Station on Thursday, where they will conduct a series of exercises, the source told CNA.

Military units nationwide, meanwhile, will conduct drills to test their troops' mobility, ammunition resupply abilities, nighttime maneuvers and field kitchen efficiency, among others, the source added.

According to the source, the Armed Forces regularly conducts a month-long "combat-readiness month" drill every three months during which military units conduct field reconnaissance and computer-aided wargames before conducting drills during the final week of each month.
