Taipei, Oct. 9 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) will lay out three major strategies in her National Day speech to strengthen Taiwan's resilience amid the changing environment with the aim of making the country an indispensable member of the global community to safeguard its existence, a spokesman for the Presidential Office said Tuesday.

Tsai will address the country and the international community on what Taiwan sees as factors that threaten the international order and the country's responses to the challenges facing it, in a speech to be delivered at the Oct. 10 National Day celebrations, Alex Huang (黃重諺) said.

Tsai will mention the activities by China that are disturbing stability in the region and becoming issues of real concern for the world, Huang said.

She will point out that Taiwan must reinforce its resilience so as to better respond to the challenges and act as a responsible and reliable stakeholder in the international community so that it can be an indispensable partner for the world, because that is crucial to the country's existence, Huang went on.

The three major strategies Tsai will set out will include boosting national security, strengthening economic power and providing a comprehensive social security network, Huang said.

The president will reassure the international community that Taiwan will not act recklessly to escalate regional tension, neither will it bow to external pressure, Huang said.

Tsai will stress that her administration will stand firm to safeguard the people's way of life in Taiwan, which embraces the values of freedom and democracy, and to continue to maintain regional stability and security, because that is the best strategy for Taiwan's sustainable development, Huang said.
