Taipei, May 2 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) posted a message praising the military on her official Facebook page Wednesday, as Taiwan's armed forces engage in computer war games as part of the annual Han Kuang exercises.

The Han Kuang exercises, Taiwan's biggest annual military drill, started computer-simulated war games on Monday, facing a Chinese invasion scenario.

In her message, Tsai mentioned overseeing the games on Wednesday and bearing witness to the soldiers' determination to protect Taiwan.

The president went on to say she is confident the public will have even more faith in the military's capability to defend the nation when live-fire drills are held across the country from June 4-8.

The Ministry of National Defense previously noted that for the first time ever the live-fire drills will feature Coast Guard officers and civilian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, ensuring optimal use is made of all levers of national power available to military planners.
