Taipei, July 31 (CNA) The National Security Bureau (NSB) on Monday dismissed as "fabrication" a report saying that classified files concerning Taiwan's military training plans had been leaked to China.
In a statement, the bureau said it deeply regretted the report, which it described as "totally groundless" and an attempt to confuse people's perception and cause anxiety among the public.
The NSB was responding to a report published Monday by the online Up Media, which said the NSB intercepted a Chinese telegram in late July on Taiwan's military training plans.
It was stated in the telegram that the information was obtained by piecing together shredded files leaked from the office of Chief of the General Staff Lee Hsi-ming (李喜明), according to the report.
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) also dismissed the report as untrue.
The ministry said in a statement that all agencies under the MND destroy sensitive files with paper shredders and then send the shreds to a pulp mill for permanent destruction.
