Army helicopter makes forced landing in Taichung

Taipei, Jan. 25 (CNA) A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the Republic of China Army was forced to land in a vacant lot in Taichung City's Nantun District on Monday.

The Army's Aviation Special Forces Command said an alarm signal went off in the cockpit at 11:05 a.m. and the pilot, an American trainer, followed standard procedure and made an emergency landing at 11:30 a.m.

The pilot and an ROC Army officer on board the helicopter were both safe and sound and the aircraft was intact, the local fire department said.

The Army did not say what triggered the alarm signal, but is scheduled to hold a press briefing at the landing site later in the day.
