Taipei, Aug. 27 (CNA) Around 47,000 military servicemen have been seconded to an emergency center that opened Tuesday in preparation for relief assistance as Tropical Storm Kong-Rey approaches, the Ministry of National Defense said that day.
The Central Weather Bureau issued a sea warning for Kong-Rey earlier in the day, warning against torrential rain in central and southern parts of the country over the next few days.
Eight S-70C rescue helicopters, two CH-47SD helicopters, 25 UH-1H helicopters and 13 C-130 transport planes are also ready to be dispatched as needed, while 362 water pumps are on standby for any necessary relief and rescue assistance, the military said.
