Taipei, June 27 (CNA) The Presidential Office denied Thursday that there will be a reshuffle of senior military personnel in the near future.
The Taipei-based China Times reported that some senior military positions will be reshuffled soon, with former Chief of the Genergal Staff Gen. Lin Chen-yi replacing Kao Hua-chu as defense minister.
The Chinese-language daily also cited unidentified sources as saying that Kao will be reassigned as Taiwan's representative to a European country.
The front-page report further said that incumbent Navy Commander Adm. Tung Hsiang-lung will exchange positions with Deputy Chief of the General Staff Executive Officer Adm. Chen Yung-kang.
Presidential Office spokeswoman Garfie Li, however, rebutted the report as sheer speculation.
"The report is not factual," Li said, adding that she had no information about any forthcoming military personnel reshuffle.
