Cross-strait talks to be held in Taipei: SEF official
ROC Central News Agency
Taipei, April 6 (CNA) The next round of cross-Taiwan Strait talks scheduled for the first half of the year will be held in Taipei, Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Vice Chairman Kao Koong-lian said Friday.
SEF Chairman Chiang Pin-kung and his counterpart, Chen Yunlin, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, will meet for the eighth time since they first held talks in June 2008.
Commenting on Chen's recent remarks that Hualien in eastern Taiwan had been lobbying for the chance to host the talks, Kao said "we basically will not follow that direction."
He said that the exact venue for the talks has yet to be discussed, but they will be held in Taipei, and "that will not change."
