Ma promotes 30 officers to ranks of major/lieutenant general

Taipei, Dec. 25 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou has approved the promotion of 30 military officers to the ranks of major general or lieutenant general with effect from Jan. 1, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) announced Sunday.
Seven of them will be promoted to lieutenant-generals, or two-star generals. They include deputy commanders Wang Hsin-lung and Chi Lien-cheng of the Army's corps, National Security Bureau officer Tien Tsai-chin, and Wu Wang-chiao, deputy commander of the Air Force Combat Command.
The others will be promoted to the rank of major general, or one-star general. Those include Matsu Defense Command Chief Staff Officer Chung Shu-ming, Tang Ming-hua, head of the Graduate Institute of Strategic Studies at National Defense University, and Air Force Logistics Command Chief Staff Officer Yu Chih-huang.
The conferral ceremony is scheduled to take place Dec. 27, the ministry said. (By Chen Pei-huang and Jamie Wang) ENDITEM/J
