Taipei, Dec. 2 (CNA) Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Chairman Chiang Pin-kung said Friday he will do his utmost during his new three-year term to further boost rapprochement across the Taiwan Strait.
Chiang and SEF Vice Chairman Kao Koong-lian were re-elected for a new term at the first meeting of the quasi-official intermediary body's eighth board of directors.
"I am thrilled to be re-elected to head the SEF," Chiang said.
"Twenty years after the establishment of the SEF, cross-strait relations have never been better. We will work on that basis to further improve ties with mainland China," he added.
Chiang made his remarks after a short 15-minute voting process by new board members, who were named in October.
The SEF is responsible for negotiations with China in the absence of official ties.
