Taipei, Aug. 22 (CNA) Unit 2 at Taiwan's third nuclear power plant in southern Taiwan has been suspended for inspection and maintenance but the suspension will not influence the country's power supply, Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) said Monday.
According to Taipower, the unit's transformer was found to be not functioning properly on Aug. 20, and the operation of the unit was suspended. The company expected operations would be resumed on Sept. 1 at the earliest.
The company said there was nothing wrong with the nuclear facility and that there would be no impact on the power supply.
