Taipei, March 17 (CNA) Military personnel were stationed at Taiwan airports Thursday to help check for radiation contamination on travelers returning home.

A total of 42 chemical hazard specialists from the military joined the Cabinet-level Atomic Energy Council personnel, who had been deployed at airports in Taipei City, Taoyuan County and Kaohsiung City since Tuesday to check for the presence of radiation particles on incoming travelers, the Amy Command Headquarters said.

Over the past two days, Taiwan had found mild radiation contamination on 25 people returning from Japan, but there were no health risks, authorities said.

Meanwhile, at a military school in the northern county of Taoyuan, soldiers conducted a drill Thursday on how to remove radiation particles from people's bodies, clothes and vehicles.
