Taipei, July 30 (CNA) The military confirmed Friday that a parking apron currently used by the presidential plane at the Songshan air base in Taipei City will be lent for civil use.

According to Air Force Command Headquarters, the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) has requested that the apron be lent to the administration to facilitate an expansion project at Songshan Airport that will involve the establishment of a business aviation zone.

The Air Force, however, played down a report by the Liberty Times that said the apron will be reserved for use by private jets after the expansion project is completed.

"It is not the Air Force's jurisdiction to decide how the business aviation zone will be used," the Air Force said.

According to the Liberty Times, after the apron is lent to the CAA, the presidential plane will no longer have an exclusive parking apron and will share an apron with three other administrative planes.
