Taipei, Jan. 23 (CNA) Premier Chang Chun-hsiung's Cabinet will resign en masse at a provisional meeting scheduled for Jan. 24 afternoon, a Cabinet official said Wednesday.
The Cabinet originally planned to resign Jan. 28, in accordance with a constitutional convention that has it step down before the seating of a new legislature.
With the newly elected seventh Legislative Yuan set to be inaugurated Feb. 1, the resignation date was moved up by a few days to allow President Chen Shui-bian more time to ponder the new Cabinet lineup, Cabinet Secretary-General Chen Chin-jun said.
