Military responsible for Taiwan Strait security: president

Kaohsiung, Dec. 18 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian urged the military Tuesday to shoulder its unshirkable responsibility to protect security in the Taiwan Strait.
Chen made the remarks while addressing a celebration marking 20 years of service of two improved Zwaardvis-class submarines held at the Tsoying naval base in the southern port city of Kaohsiung.
