Taipei, Nov. 28 (CNA) It will be, at best, a Pyrrhic victory for China if they dare to invade Taiwan, Minister of Defense Lee Tien-yu said Wednesday.
The dear cost Beijing would have to pay for any military adventure against Taiwan may make Beijing rethink such an undertaking, the minister told the legislature.
In response to questions from an opposition lawmaker, Lee admitted that, on its own, Taiwan can hardly ward off an attack by China, as has been shown in a series of computerized military drills.
However, the minister said he is confident that the armed forces can destroy 60 or 70 percent of an invading force on its own.
