Taipei, June 27 (CNA) National Defense Minister Lee Jye said Monday that a solid military force and strong will to fight are key to victory.
Lee made the remarks during a pep-speech to graduating cadets of five military academies at Fu Hsing Kang College in Taipei.
He said the military has in recent years dedicated itself to the buildup of a modern military force. It has continued to streamline military personnel, hoping to build a solid force with strong combat ability.
Faced with the military threat of China, Lee urged the nation not to hinge its hopes on the goodwill of the enemy and not to rely on assistance from the international community, but to rely on the country's own strength.
He also urged the cadets to accept challenges and understand that a crisis can also be a turning point so that they can move with the times and form the backbone of a modern force.
