PRESIDENT CHEN SWORN IN FOR SECOND TERM

Taipei, May 20 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian was formally sworn in Thursday for another four-year term.
Chen took oath of office in a ceremony held at the President Office at 9 a.m. Judicial Yuan President Weng Yueh-sheng supervised the swearing-in ceremony, while Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyng presented the ROC's national seal to Chen.
During the ceremony, Annette Lu was also sworn in as the ROC's 11th-term vice president.
Chen then signed documents to reappoint Premier Yu Shyi-kun, who led his cabinet to resign en masse earlier this month in accordance with a constitutional formality.
Chen, 53, won by a narrow margin against Lien Chan, Kuomintang chairman and candidate of the "pan-blue alliance," in the March 20 presidential election.
