PRESIDENT CHEN LEAVES HOSPITAL TO RETURN TO TAIPEI

Taipei, March 19 (CNA) President Chen Shui-bian left Chi Mei Medical Center in Tainan at 7: 10 p.m. after surviving an assassinate attempt earlier in the day in Tainan City during campaigning in an open car. He was treated for a flesh wound in his abdomen apparently sustained from a gun shot.
He will return to Taipei on the presidential plane.
