Kinmen, April 2 (CNA) Cutters of the National Coastal Guard Administration, Kinmen Chapter, captured five mainland Chinese fishing boats along with 20 crewmen that had been poaching in waters of Kinmen Island.
Two patrol vessels started a sweep operation on Sunday morning and discovered five mainland Chinese fishing boats operating illegally in 50-meter waters off Sangyi, Kinmen. The patrol boats captured these five fishing boats along with 20 crewmen and escorted them to Hsinfu Fishing Port for further investigation.
The captured boats were returned to the mainland after their fishing nets and catches were confiscated in accordance with regulations.
This was the third consecutive day that Kinmen Coast Guard has detained mainland fishing boats for poaching. (By Edward Chen)
