- Taiwan's Democratization Progressing Well USIA 12 December 1991 -- Speaking during a lecture at the Heritage Foundation, American Institute in Taiwan chairman and managing director Nat Bellocchi said Taiwan's democratization is going remarkably well but there is little chance that it will make any moves soon toward independence or reunification with the Chinese mainland.
- JEC Panelists Object to Aircraft Company Sale to Taiwan USIA 03 December 1991 -- Acting Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee of Congress Senator Jeff Bingaman has voiced opposition to the proposed sale of 40 percent of McDonnell Douglas Corp's commercial aircraft business to Taiwan Aerospace on the grounds of national security.
- McDONNELL DOUGLAS/TAIWAN MD-12 VENTURE -- HON. JAMES M. INHOFE (Extension of Remarks - November 26, 1991) McDonnell Douglas announced on November 19 that they have signed a memorandum of understanding [MOU] with the Taiwan Aerospace Corp. [TAC] which outlines an equity partnership involving McDonnell Douglas' commercial aircraft business.

National sovereignty is not, and should not be, a requirement or condition for joining the GATT.
