Syrian army liberates Aljazeera neighborhood, south Damascus

Damascus, May 12, IRNA -- Units of Syrian Arab army on Saturday liberated Aljazeera neighborhood in northwestern Hajar al-Aswad, south Damascus, from the terrorists.
Engineering units of the Syrian army are currently engaged in demining operations and purging the neighborhood.
SANA correspondent said that army's air force and artillery, over the past hours, targeted with concentrated strikes the terrorists' positions and their hotbeds in the trenches and tunnels, inflicting heavy losses upon them in personnel and weaponry.
The army units eliminated the terrorists positioned in the building of educational development center and a number of buildings in the northwest of al-Hajar al-Aswad as the army is continuing its operations against the terrorists in the area to expand its security space and consolidate new points which will be the starting point for new operations on this direction, the correspondent added.
He said that the army has adopted combat tactics that suit the nature of the residential area and the spread of terrorists' snipers in the buildings there.
