Syrian armed forces have made fresh gains at an aviation technical college in southern Aleppo City, targeting foreign-backed terrorists' position with rocket and artillery attacks.

The Arabic-language Syria Now news website reported the advance on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the Syrian army was in control of most of the college and managed to push back the militants there.

On Monday, the Syrian army jets launched airstrikes against militants in several areas in Aleppo's south and southwest, according to the report.

Aleppo has been divided between government forces in the west and the Takfiri terrorists in the east over the past four years. Syrian forces have been engaged in a major operation to liberate the militant-held parts of the city as well as the province with the same name.

The Takfiri militants operating in Syria have suffered major setbacks over the past few months as the Syrian army has managed to liberate several areas.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimates that over 400,000 people have been killed in the conflict in Syria.

The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
