MOSCOW (Sputnik) – At least 10 people have been killed and about 30 wounded in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Damascus in a shelling by the Nusra Front militant group, an al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation said on Sunday.

'As a result of continuous shelling by the Nusra Front militants from mortars and artillery systems, 10 people were killed and about 30 wounded in the [Syrian] provinces of Damascus and Idlib,' the center said in an information bulletin published by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Last month, Russia and the United States reached a deal to establish a ceasefire in Syria. The UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2268, endorsing the agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria on February 26.

Russia's reconciliation center at the Hmeimim air base in Latakia launched a daily bulletin providing data on the progress of the ceasefire on the second day since the truce entered into force on February 27.
