The Syrian army has liberated strategically important towns located on the governmental supply line to the city of Allepo from Daesh terrorists, a source in the Syrian militia said.
BEIRUT (Sputnik) – According to the source, 18 army soldiers died during the operation, while several dozen Daesh terrorists were killed.
'The army liberated Rasm an Nafal and Shalal Qabir. While being there, the terrorists could have attacked the route from Khanaser to Aleppo at any time,' the source told RIA Novosti.
Fierce fighting is ongoing for control over the village of Khanaser, which fell to the extremists on Tuesday, according to the source.
Earlier on Wednesday, Daesh terrorists attempted to break into the Syrian army's command on the road near Khanaser, using three mined cars. The army managed to foresee the attack and prematurely destroyed the vehicles.
The Ithriyah-Khanaser-Aleppo route is the only supply line for Syrian troops in Aleppo, as well as being the 'lifeline' through which the city receives food, fuel and other necessities.
