Scores of militants have been killed across Syria as government forces carry out fresh large-scale operations against terrorist groups.

Syrian troops launched a pre-emptive operation against Takfiri Daesh militants in Deir Ezzor city on Sunday, killing 35 militants and destroying their weapons, Syria's official SANA news agency said.

Some 16 members of Takfiri Jaish al-Fateh were also killed in al-Tamana town in the northwestern Idlib province after army troops targeted their hideouts.

Syrian army units further attacked Takfiri Nusra Front militants' hideouts in Latakia and took control of a village and the nearby Ghamam mountain.

Also on Sunday, Daesh militants seized the town of Maheen in the western province of Homs.

Elsewhere in Harbil town, north of Aleppo, some 18 Daesh militants were killed in clashes with other militant groups in the region. The Takfiri Daesh group controls eastern parts of Aleppo and is trying to make gain against other militant groups in Aleppo's west.

In Aleppo, Syrian forces killed tens of Daesh militants in northeastern part of the city.

Foreign-backed terrorists began their deadly campaign in Syria in March 2011. The militancy by the Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 230,000 people, according to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

On September 30, Russia launched its military operation against terrorists in Syria upon a request from the Damascus government.

The UN says over 7.2 million people have also been internally displaced, while more than three million others have fled to other countries due to the intolerable conditions caused by the crisis.
