Syrian army forces have killed around 24 operatives of the Takfiri terrorist group ISIL in the western province of Homs.

The Syrian forces swooped on the Takfiri militants on Thursday and managed to destroy their vehicles, the Syrian Arab News Agency, SANA, reported.

The operation was conducted in Om al-Reesh and Onoq al-Hawa villages as well as the road connecting Western Habra to Rajem al-Qaser in Homs province.

Two ISIL hideouts and several armored vehicles used by the terrorists were destroyed in the village of Zaafarane, north of Homs.

The Syrian troops also killed a number of terrorists and destroyed their weapons in the west of Lake al- Rastan in Homs.

In the west of the province, an army unit, backed up by volunteer forces, clashed with terrorists near al-Waer neighborhood, killing a number of militants and destroying a vehicle mounted with heavy machine gun.

Sporadic clashes also resulted in the death of a large number of ISIL terrorists in al-Qalamoun Mountains near the capital Damascus, al-Samadaniyeh village in the southern province of Quneitra and in Dkailah and al-Bal'as in the central province of Hama.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Wednesday that dozens of Syrian soldiers had approached two Shia-inhabited towns of al-Zahra and Nubl north of Aleppo, which have been under terrorists' siege for about two years.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of an estimated 210,000 people, according to reports.
