TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Zionist regime's recent attack on Syria shows that it is supporting the ISIL terrorist group.
Zarif condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Syria, and said the acts embolden ISIL forces in Iraq and Syria which have undergone frequent defeats over last few weeks.
'The Zionist regime's move in attacking certain areas in Syria shows coordination between the regime and the terrorist groups,' he said in a press conference with his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Muallem here in Tehran.
He also said the only way to fight extremism is global and all-out fighting in terms of culture, policy and economy and blocking financial aid to the terrorist groups.
Al-Muallem, for his part, said, 'We are now subject to a plot whose perpetrators are continuing to act shamelessly. They act by help of European countries, the US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.'
He also said Israel has been trying to make up for recent ISIL defeats in Aleppo, Kobani, Deir ez-Zor and Ghalamoun by launching attacks on Syria. 'But I should say that the brave Syrian nation and Army killed a large number of terrorists as they faced ISIL and al-Nusra Front in different areas. These large number of ISIL forces would not have been killed if the coalition forces had conducted 1000 air strikes.'
'We will endeavor to find a solution and hold talks among Syrians without foreigners' interference by help of friendly countries of Iran and Russia.'
