Urban warfare between the ISIL Takfiri terrorists and Kurdish forces in Syria's border town of Kobani has spread to new neighborhoods.

According to latest reports, the battle between the Takfiri militants and the Kurdish fighters on Tuesday continued in the southern and western parts of the town.

Takfiris, backed by tanks and artillery, have reportedly seized control of three districts in Kobani.

"They are fighting inside the city. Hundreds of civilians have left," said the director of the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdurrahman, adding that the ISIL controls three neighborhoods on the eastern side of Kobani.

The militants are trying to enter the town from the southwest as well, Abdurrahman stated. He said the central part of the town is under the control of the Kurds.

Kurdish authorities have called for the residents to immediately evacuate the town.

"Military officials asked civilians to evacuate. They declared Kobani a military area," said Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for Kurdish forces, adding that ISIL has advanced toward the eastern part of Kobani.

The battle in Kobani goes on as the US-led coalition continues airstrikes against ISIL positions on the outskirts of the strategic town. The Kurds say the airstrikes are not working.

The head of the Kobani Governing Council, Anwar Muslim, says the US-led airstrikes are ineffective because they have not stopped the ISIL militants from advancing toward the town.

The ISIL militants have been trying to seize control of Kobani since mid-September, but they have failed due to resistance by Kurdish forces. Dozens of terrorists have been killed in the clashes.

The ISIL militants have taken over dozens of nearby Kurdish villages. The intense fighting for the strategic town has forced nearly 200,000 people to take refuge in Turkey.

Syrian Kurdish fighters have called on all Kurds across the region to take up arms against ISIL.
