Syria army tightens noose around militants

Syria's army has tightened the noose around foreign-backed Takfiri militants fighting against the government, inflicting heavy losses on them.
On Sunday, the Syrian troops continued their clean-up operations against the militants in Jobar and Douma areas in the countryside of the capital Damascus, killing many of them and destroying their weapons, Syria's official news agency SANA reported.
Syrian forces also stormed militants' hideouts in the towns of Deir al-Asafir, Zebdin, and Hadithat al-Jarsh in the Eastern Ghouta region, killing many of them and injuring many others.
Also, Syrian army units foiled an infiltration attempt by foreign-sponsored militants in Ariha in the surrounding of Jabal al-Arbaeen in the countryside of Aleppo, killing a large number of the militants and injuring many others.
Syrian soldiers clashed with militants in the countryside of Idlib, killing and injuring scores of them.
Syrian army units also repelled an infiltration bid by militants in the countryside of Homs.The units also targeted militants in Taldo and Kfar Laha villages in al-Houleh.
Over the past months, the Syrian army has achieved major victories in its battle against Takfiri groups across the Arab country, particularly in the Qalamoun region near the Lebanese border.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. Over 160,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by the foreign-backed militants.
According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
