At least fourteen people have been killed and dozens of others injured in attacks by foreign-backed militants in Syria.

A five-year old child was killed and a civilian was injured after mortar shells fired by militants hit al-Abbasiyyen and al-Ghassani residential areas in the capital Damascus, Syria's state news agency, SANA, reported on Sunday, citing a source at Damascus Police Command.

According to the source, houses near Church of Our Lady in Aleppo street in al-Ghassani area in Damascus were also damaged after two mortar shells fired by the militants hit the area.

According to a source in Aleppo province, three people lost their lives and 10 others suffered injuries after mortar rounds fired by Takfiri militants hit al-Azizieh neighborhood in Aleppo.

Elsewhere, in al-Ashrafiya neighborhood in Aleppo, nine civilians were killed and many others, most of them children and women, were injured after rocket shells launched by militants hit the area.

One civilian was also killed after a car bomb went off near Tal Omri on the highway between Salamieyh city and Homs city.

Two more people were injured after militants fired two rockets on Jabbourin village in al-Rastan in the countryside of Homs.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. Reports say over 150,000 people have so far been killed and millions displaced because of the foreign-backed violence in the Arab state.
