Syrian government forces have taken control of an area near the northern city of Aleppo, as they continue their push to free more areas from foreign-backed militants.
Syrian forces managed to regain control of al-Matahen area on Saturday following fierce battles with militants.
The army has reportedly inflicted heavy losses on militants.
According to military sources, the army continues advances on al-Sheikh Said and al-Ameriyeh crossroads in the city.
Government forces are said to have killed an unspecified number of militants and destroyed their vehicles and ammunition as they push to clear more areas of militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
In the city of Homs, the government forces advanced in the Bab Hud neighborhood and killed a number of armed men in the area, the official SANA news agency reported.
Syrian troops also destroyed militants' hideouts in a number of areas in the southwestern city of Dara'a, SANA added.
Syria has been experiencing a deadly violence since March 2011 that is fueled by militants sponsored by the Western powers and their regional allies, especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey.
Reports say more than 150,000 people have so far been killed and millions of others displaced because of the foreign-backed militancy.
On April 13, President Assad said the war in Syria has shifted strongly in favor of government forces as they have made continuous gains against foreign-backed Takfiri militants in the Arab country.
