The Syrian army has conducted successful mop-up operations in several areas across the Arab country, inflicting heavy losses on foreign-sponsored militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
On Wednesday, the army continued its clean-up operations on the outskirts of the capital Damascus including the area of Manshyat Khan al-Sheeh, killing dozens of militants.
The army also launched attacks on the militants in al-Karabis neighborhood in the city of Homs, killing many of them.
A number of Takfiri militants were killed in similar operations near the Water Unit and the National Hospital in Tal-Dao village in Homs countryside.
Moreover, scores of foreign-backed militants were killed or injured in mop-up operations carried out in Sheikh Ibrahim al-Hakim and Khalij Kisin areas.
On Tuesday, the government troops stormed the militants' hideouts near Um al-Tababir village in Homs, killing a number of them.
The army destroyed large caches of weapons and ammunition used by the militants in the region.
The army units battled the militants in Daraa countryside, killing and injuring scores of them.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in the violence.
The UN recently warned against the humanitarian situation in Syria, saying over nine million people are in need of urgent aid due to the crisis in the war-wracked country.
