The Syrian army continues to gain more ground in its fight against foreign-backed militants in several areas across the Arab country.
According to a military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Tuesday, the government troops stormed the militants' hideouts near Um al-Tababir village in Homs, killing a number of them, official SANA news agency reported.
The army destroyed large caches of weapons and ammunition used by the militants in the region, the source added.
The army units battled foreign-backed militants in Daraa countryside, killing and injuring scores of them.
The Syrian soldiers also killed a large number of militants in the village of Hantutin in Idlib countryside.
The troops also destroyed several vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition in the same region.
On Sunday, Syrian government forces attacked the militants near al-Naqarin, in the suburbs of Aleppo.
The troops captured a warehouse used by the militants in Tal al-Zarzour neighborhood and killed all the insurgents there. Army units also confiscated all weaponry and missiles stored in the warehouse.
Last week, army units secured the al-Dweireneh town, situated in east of the al-Nayrab airport in Aleppo.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in the violence.
The UN recently warned against the humanitarian situation in Syria, saying that over nine million people are in need of urgent aid due to the crisis in the Middle Eastern country.
