Britain is to boost assistance to insurgents in Syria, providing them with military equipment, British Foreign Secretary William Hague has said.

In a statement to the House of Commons, Hague announced the country’s plans to provide some £13 million in assistance to terrorists in Syria.

Hague said armoured vehicles, body armour, and other military equipment are to be sent to foreign-backed militants in the Arab country in order to help them “move around more freely”.

This comes as Britain and its regional and western allies have been repeatedly accused of arming and training Syrian terrorists and even exporting mercenaries to the Arab country in an attempt to topple Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad’s government.

The Syrian unrest began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed ever since.

The Syrian government has repeatedly said that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country.
