IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Aug 29, IRNA -- Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said all Iranians kidnapped in Syria are in good health according to the reliable sources.

On the sidelines of the ongoing Non-Aligned Movement meeting in Tehran, Amir Abdollahian told reporters that Free Syrian Army has accepted responsibility for abduction of the 48 Iranian nationals.

Iran has sent a very serious message to that Syrian group and its supporters saying they are the only ones responsible for the lives of the abducted Iranians.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has made its all-out efforts to release the kidnapped Iranians, said the official, adding the abductors have not yet asked for anything officially.

Referring to cooperation between Free Syrian Army and some neighboring states, Amir Abdollahian said Iran continues holding talks with those countries' officials on the case.

Introducing Free Syrian Army as an opponent group to Damascus, he said the group has carried out various abduction and terrorist operations.

He then said the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its support for Syria and the resistance movement loudly.

He said Tehran believes that diplomacy is the only way to settle the Syrian crisis.

Asked about Tehran-Cairo ties, the official said Iran welcomes any proposal for promotion of bilateral relations.
