Syrian dy FM: Separation of north Syria by Kurds a mere rumor

Tehran, August 28, IRNA -- Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad on Tuesday strongly denied rumors spread by certain media on separation of north Syria by Kurds.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 16th NAM summit in Tehran, he said “We believe that the issue should be resolved through people's contribution and peaceful means.”
He strongly opposed interference of western countries and the US in Syria's interior affairs.
On support of certain foreign countries for Syrian opposition groups, he said such backing of terrorists would leave negative impacts on other countries of the region.
Syria welcomes dialogue between the government and all opposition groups, he said.
On fate of Iranian pilgrims kidnapped in Syria, he expressed the hope that they will be freed within coming days.
The Non-Aligned Movement ministerial meeting is being held here from August 28-29.
The two-day NAM expert meeting started work in the Iranian capital on August 26.
The summit meeting that will last two days is slated for August 30.
