Tehran, July 22, IRNA -- Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Sunday denied in a statement recent reports on alleged martyrdom of Iranian commander Qasem Soleymani in July 18 bombing in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The statement published by the IRGC’s Public Relations Office said that reports by certain media in recent days on alleged martyrdom of commander Soleymani in Syria’s National Security Council’s blast was not true.
“Certain Arab media along with their western counterparts have started an immoral and hostile propaganda against Iran in recent days due to the latest situation in Syria and Tehran’s support for the Palestinian resistance,” Head of the IRGC’s Public Relations Office Brigadier Ramezan Sharif said in the statement.
He noted among the recent allegations made by those media was the alleged presence of Commander Soleymani in the meeting of the Syria’s National Security Council which was targeted by the last Wednesday’s bombing.
Brigadier Sharif added those involved in such anti-Iran propaganda were aimed to “mislead public opinion and encourage supporters and agents of the Zionist regime by discouraging public opinion towards the resistance.
However, Sharif added, Arab and Muslim nations would never stop their support for Syria and the Palestinian resistance and would always rise against enemy.
