Berlin, Jan 15, IRNA -- A German warship has been detected off the coast of Syria as part of a spying mission, the Hamburg-based weekly news magazine Der Spiegel reported Sunday.
The German ship, carrying 85 soldiers, got as close as 15 nautical miles off the Syrian coast late last month.
The secret mission which took place without the knowledge of the German parliament, was aimed at gathering information through acoustic and optic sensors.
Germany is a very close military ally of the Zionist regime, an arch-foe of Syria.
German spy warships were also cruising off the coast of Libya during the Libyan war and are also deployed off the coast of Lebanon as part of the UN mission.
