TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast dismissed European Union (EU) claim that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces have been involved in Syrian recent developments.
He said the claim is just putting the blame on other countries.
Mehmanparast said, "the EU allegation on Iranian Guard forces’ relation with Syrian recent developments without handing any proof or document is unfounded and aims at putting the blame on another country."
“As we have repeatedly stressed, the Syrian regime and nation enjoy enough political and social maturity and are capable of resolving their own problems. The Islamic Republic of Iran respects sovereignty of all countries and denies any claim on its interference in Syrian internal affairs,” Mehmanparast added.
He continued, “Unfortunately the European Union has resorted to double standards in its approach on regional developments and tries to deviate the world's public opinion of breaching the human rights by regimes under its support.”
