US, UK, France fail to push UNSC to issue anti-Syrian statement

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

New York, April 28, IRNA -- Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaei has said US, Britain and France failed to push UN Security Council to issue a statement against Syria.

Khazaei told IRNA, at the end of the council's session Wednesday that other permanent members of the UNSC, including China and Russia, have opposed to ratification of a statement against Syria.

Those who were killing thousands of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq by their military forces have now accused other governments of interfering in the affairs of other nations, Khazaei said.

Referring to certain states' allegations that Iran interfered in the internal affairs of some regional countries, the Iranian diplomat said, they were blaming Iran while they have already set up military bases in the region and supported military intervention in the affairs of Iran’s neighboring countries.

Khazaei also criticized indifference of a number of the UNSC's permanent members towards the carnage of innocent civilians in some Middle Eastern states.

He said that the UNSC’s meeting was a big failure for its organizers.

He also strongly refuted the baseless allegations made by US permanent representative on Tehran’s so-called contribution with Syrian government on quelling the protesters.

Iran’s foreign policy is based on non-interference in the affairs of other countries, Khazaei stressed.

He added that certain members of the council raised those anti-Iran issues to deviate world's public opinion from the US, Britain and France interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
