London, October 21, 2019, SPA -- Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cabinet Member Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir denied the existence of mediation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran to ease tensions. He said that it is the responsibility of the Iranian regime to change its behavior and show good intentions rather than words.
In a lecture at the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies (Chatham House) in London today, Al-Jubeir accused Iran of being behind the sabotage attack on two Aramco oil facilities last month, pointing out that "Iran does not respect the sovereignty of states or international law."
He praised the rapid reproduction at the two oil plants, which underlines the Kingdom's commitment to secure the world energy markets.
He also praised the strong international position taken by most European countries and the United States towards Iran, stressing that Iranian actions have become a threat to the interests and security of countries in the region.
On the Yemeni file, Al-Jubeir stressed that the Kingdom supports the political solution, which is the best option to solve the Yemeni crisis, stressing that "there is an international dialogue on Yemen with a view to reaching a peaceful solution to the crisis."
With regard to the Kingdom's Vision 2030, he explained that the Kingdom is pursuing a deliberate plan to achieve the objectives of the vision, which is based on supporting innovation and encouraging young people and promoting new economic sectors such as manufacturing, mining, tourism and maritime transport.
He added that the empowerment of women was at the forefront of the vision's goals, as they now have the right to drive and travel without a permit, in addition to their involvement in the labor market further as the participation of women in the total labor force in the Kingdom has increased this year in various sectors.
He pointed out that the process of Brexit is a British internal affair, and that the bilateral relations between the two countries are old and continuous, whether Britain within the European Union or outside.
