On Wednesday, November 12, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriі Sybiha started his participation in the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Canada and held bilateral talks with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand.

Andrii Sybiha stated that during the meeting, partners will discuss strengthening Ukraine's long-range capabilities, increasing investment in Ukrainian innovation and the defense industry, and focusing on practical steps toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace.

"Our defense industry is currently growing at the fastest pace in the world. Ukraine is ready to share its experience and launch joint production with our closest allies, including Canada. This will be our contribution to your security," emphasized the Minister.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Russia continues to reject peace and escalate terror. According to the Ukrainian diplomat, Putin still clings to the illusion that he can win, even though he has lost more than a million soldiers and achieved no strategic goals.

It is critically important to bolster support for Ukraine and to increase pressure on Russia. We must make the cost of continuing the war too high and dangerous for Putin and his regime. Sufficient pressure will compel Russia to end the war," he noted.

Andrii Sybiha urged G7 nations to boost investment in Ukrainian missile and drone manufacturing, air defense, and ammunition.

According to the diplomat, Russia's occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and its deliberate strikes on components of the Chornobyl, Khmelnytskyi, and Rivne nuclear power plants pose a serious threat to European and global nuclear security.

The Minister also stressed that maritime and energy security are top priorities. Ukraine's resilience at sea is part of a shared resilience that spans from the Atlantic to the Indo-Pacific region.

Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced a new Canadian sanctions package against Russia. It targets 100 vessels from Russia's "shadow fleet," 13 individuals, and 11 entities, including drone manufacturers and developers, as well as several Russian liquefied natural gas entities. For the first time, Canada has also sanctioned entities that supply the cyber infrastructure used in Russia's hybrid strategies against Ukraine.

"As the G7 chair in 2025, Canada has prioritized supporting and enhancing our assistance to Ukraine," stated Canada's Foreign Minister.

Andrii Sybiha expressed deep gratitude to Canada for its leadership in the G7 and for energy assistance, including the latest aid package worth $70 million. He highlighted the recent successful visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to Ukraine. The Minister also thanked Canada for its active role in the Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, contributions within PURL, and other support.

The Foreign Minister underlined that the relationship between Ukraine and Canada is built on strong bonds between our peoples. He expressed appreciation to all Ukrainians in Canada and to our communities for their active involvement, voice, and efforts in supporting our nation.
